Up to £1000 budget what basics system should my friend consider TT & CD Sources amp and Loudspeakers

Interested to take soundings on suggestions for a basic system for a friend smallish room and he is looking for a basic TT CD player integrated amp and loudspeakers, he has stands and a basic unit and some cables so just £900 - £1,000 for the equipment

Might be possible to do second hand Rega for the electronics and then Elac Debut for the speakers. Q acoustics for the speakers would give a smarter look and might be easier to drive.
