Now here's an elegant and possible solution for me to consider for my multiway project

I could possibly consider building a pair of these?

http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/The-Loudspeaker.htm

A large sensitive four way dynamic and well timed system with low group delay and bass down towards 20Hz in room.

I personally would go for the all passive version?

Well, Simon, if you do, I’d like to hear them!

I have ran some simulations based upon the bass driver used and the results are very promising, just possible that they could outperform some super high end mega speakers and they are a relatively kind load too.

As Martin cited in his Borg review, certain high end speakers have trended towards low impedance loads, making life harder for the amplifier hence reducing potential performance.

No matter the quality of the amp, having a speaker present an easier load, effectively improved system sound quality, by making life easier for it.

Another positive is that the bass driver works well in a sealed alignment as it has the right parameters to do so.

In this case it will go about 15Hz lower in the bass than an NS1000M system

In this case I will have a blanking plate arrangement so that I can swap ports with a sealing plate to convert it to a Q = 0.53 system

On hold for the time being thanks to Covid-19 giving me time to reflect and re-evaluate what I really want from a new project, my own design or this?

I will be building a pair of these with a few very minor tweaks.

Though to some these are serious speakers which will likely perform / outperform many at the £50K+ level / pair.

lessons learnt from building these and my SLAMS from the late 90s, so both these projects will serve to form the basis of my final big build in the mid / late 2020s
